ARTISTS RIFLES: REGIMENTAL ROLL OF HONOUR AND WAR RECORD 1914-1919

The Artists Rifles originated in May 1860 as a corps of rifle volunteers, formed from members of the artistic professions. It provided the largest contingent for the City Imperial Volunteers in the Boer War and, in 1908, it became the 28th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment, Territorial Force. This is a complete record of the regiment’s Muster Roll from August 1914 until the Armistice. Eight VCs were awarded and there were 6,071 casualties throughout the war, of whom 2,003 were killed. Grey boards are marked with paper which can be removed by careful restoration. Small split at top of spine. Foxing on endpapers.
