IN NAPOLEON'S SHADOW: THE MEMOIRS OF LOUIS-JOSEPH MARCHAND
by Louis-Joseph Marchand and (Editor) Proctor Jones

Marchand was valet and friend of the Emperor 1811-1821. This is a unique record of Napoleon's habits, relationships and views on the events that dominated the closing years of his empire and his life in exile. Amongst the topics included are the Tuileries, Fontainebleu, Elba, the Hundred Days, and events on HMS Bellerophon and HMS Northumberland. Marchand's testimony, previously untranslated and unavailable, provides key evidence to support the theory that Napoleon was poisoned on St Helena by a Bourbon agent. With a foreword by Prof Jean Tulard.
